After 32 years of being a staple shopping centre in the City of Vaughan, Promenade Mall is slated for redevelopment. Designed by WZMH the mall will see the inclusion of three new towers in addition to new retail space. ALULA Lighting Design providing lighting for the mixed use development.
Residential
The Residential portion will consists of two (2) residential towers. Tower A consists of 35 floors with 258 suites. Tower B consists of 30 floors with 318 suites. The buildings have been designed with combined mechanical and electrical systems dedicated to the residential and amenities portions of the buildings. Two levels of new retail will tie into the existing mall and be fed from new mall services.
Retail
Part of the redevelopment of the existing mall will also include the demolition of the existing Sears and existing east entrance with a total area of approximately 247,785 ft². It will also include the construction of new east entrance and mall space. Total a new and renovation construction area will be approximately 277,397 ft². This portion of the project will include new mall common areas, a new food court, and new shell space CRU’s.
The redeveloped mall will also include approximately 35,000 ft² of new on-grade Restaurant ‘Pads’ and 80,000 ft² of below grade parking cut from the existing surface parking of the mall.
Commercial
The Commercial component to this project will include a 28 floor mixed-use office and hotel building. 14 floors of the building will be allocated to office space, totaling approximately 241,000 ft². We have assumed that the office space will be core and shell design with tenant fit up to be procured under a separate project. The hotel portion of the building will consist of 156 suites over the remaining 14 floors.

ALULA worked with Diamond Schmitt Architects and Knightstone Capital Management to provide lighting design for this $25 million conversion of a 22-storey hotel into a new student residence. The project includes a full renovation of the exterior façade and three lowest floors, with a partial renovation of the rest of the building.
Set to redefine student housing in Toronto, the residence will offer state-of-the-art study spaces, all-day dining programs, a 24-hour fitness centre with private yoga space, free WiFi throughout the building, 24-hour concierge services, rooftop patio, public and private social and entertainment spaces, underground parking, bike parking, and an on-site bicycle repair station.
The project was awarded the Guth Interior Lighting Illumination Award at the Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Toronto Section Awards in 2017.

Mayan Residential Development is a 160,000 m² high-end residential development on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The complex includes seven mid-rise contemporary apartment blocks on a common basement + ground podium, overlooking clear blue waters, stunning natural mangroves and lush green fairways of the Yas Links golf course.
